Do You Know What Is Genome Editing???? |Hi Tech Blog

Facts about genome editing.............

Today, our article is about genome editing. We can also say it as genome engineering...

  Now,what's genome engineering?

It is a type of genetic engineering where a DNA can be inserted, modified, replaced or deleted in the genome of any living organisms....

  So,how does genome editing works?

Living organisms including from microorganisms to insects to plants and animals including humans. Now,genes that are present in human body can influence characteristics such as height and Color of the eyes. We inherit DNA information from our father and mother which have combinations of two sets of genes. But sometime, in the process of inheritance of DNA,these instructions may carry errors and can create problems. Faulty genes can lead to serious illnesses.

Facts about genome editing.............

Now,by inventing this new technology that is gene editing, we have made a great leap forward. This accurate new technology is faster to use. It is relatively simple and cheap compared with previous methods and promises huge benefits in a nutshell. It works by identifying and then cutting the pieces of DNA. Now,how is this done? It can be done by a component known as CRISPR. It is used to pinpoint the precise DNA sequence within the genes to be altered. Then an enzyme called cas9 snips through DNA changing it or allowing it to be replaced with other stretch of DNA that is introduced at same time. So,with these process, the faulty gene can be either replaced with healthy one or modified it to behave differently.

Facts about genome editing.............

Gene editing has the potential to make big changes to our lives. It is already transforming genetic research but at this early stage of such powerful technology, it's crucial that we weigh the potential benefits against possible negativities.
